It is to your Advantage

The Lord Jesus looked at his disciples before his crucifixion and said, "It is to your advantage that I depart." Jesus' departure, although devastating to his disciples meant that he was going to send the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to us. The presence of the Holy Spirit in our life is to our advantage because he mediates the presence of Jesus to us and empowers us to live righteous and godly lives. The Holy Spirit is always at work.

The Spirit is the Creator- God spoke the world into existence and the Spirit was the one who executed the creative act. The Spirit of God is the creator of new life.

The Spirit is the Governor - everything in this life is sustained and overseen by the work of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is the one who brings all things to fulfill the providential plan of God.

The Spirit is Revealer - The Holy Spirit carried men to write the Word of God. Now through the Word, God is revealed to us. God is revealed not only in the Word but in convicting us of our sin and allowing us to see the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

The Spirit is the Re-Creator - It is the Holy Spirit that brings new life to us. He takes our dead heart and makes it alive in Christ.

The Spirit is the Companion of Christ - The Spirit accompanied Christ during his earthly ministry to magnify Christ and work through him to glorified the Father.

The Spirit is the Companion of the Church - The Spirit empowers, strengthens, purifies, and unifies the Church. It is amazing to think all that the Spirit does in the life of the church.

Beloved, it is definitely to our advantage that Jesus went to the Father through the cross so he could send the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, to guide and lead us in all things.
