20 Lessons from Sodom

Genesis 18-19

America has become like Sodom; it has become like Gomorrah.  Listen to what the prophet Ezekiel writes of Sodom, 16:48–50,

[48] As I live, declares the Lord GOD, your sister Sodom and her daughters have not done as you and your daughters have done. [49] Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. [50] They were haughty and did an abomination before me. So I removed them, when I saw it. Ezekiel 16:48–50

America has become prideful and arrogant. It celebrates its prosperity and its comfort. America celebrates and rejoices in the abomination of homosexuality and the sexual revolution. We are living in Sodom. We are living in Gomorrah. We are living in an upside-down culture. Our culture celebrates when individuals defy their Creator by denying their natural gender and denying gender at all. We live in the age of non-binary and transgenderism. The LGBTQ+ Revolution is aggressively attacking any form of Biblical witness. Our culture celebrates when celebrities deny the natural created order. It celebrates the freedom of a woman’s right to choose to halt the natural created order of childbirth with the systematic destruction of children in the womb.

·      More than 1.5 BILLION babies have been aborted worldwide in the past 50 years.

·      An estimated 50 million abortions are carried out throughout the world every year.

·      One in five pregnancies worldwide end in abortion.

·      Approximately 90% of Down syndrome babies are aborted worldwide.

·      42% of all yearly deaths in the world are from abortion.

·      Every two seconds a baby is aborted - every time your heartbeats a baby dies.

·      More African American babies have been killed by abortions since 1973 than the total number of African American deaths from AIDS, violent crimes, accidents, cancer and heart disease combined. Abortion has reduced the black population in the US by over 25%.

·      The abortion industry in America each year in the U.S. brings in approximately $831 million through their abortion services alone.[1]

Our culture hates God, hates God’s Word, and hates God’s people. We are living in Sodom and Gomorrah.

How do we live in our Sodom-like culture? How do we stand for truth in our Gomorrah like world? Sir Edmund Buke said, “Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it,” and “When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle” (Many since have taken his words to mean, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.’) Rampant sexual immorality and unnatural abomination and murder are not new to the world. We must know our history and we must respond together for the good of our neighbor and for the glory of Christ. To that end, I want to offer 20 lessons from Sodom in the hope that we would stare into the very heart of evil so that our hearts would be broken and stirred to love, have mercy and compassion for our world.

The story of Sodom and Gomorrah is very similar to the flood narrative[2]. God appears to Abraham like Noah, both are Abraham and Noah as well as Lot are called righteous. Judgment must come on the earth/city because of the pervasive wickedness in the people. Salvation is found in the mountain/hills because of the favor and preservation of God. Let us read these two chapters and learn how we can resist the Sodom-like culture we live in and the Sodom-like desires of our own heart. Genesis 18:1–8,

[1] And the LORD appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat at the door of his tent in the heat of the day. [2] He lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing in front of him. When he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed himself to the earth [3] and said, “O Lord, if I have found favor in your sight, do not pass by your servant. [4] Let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree, [5] while I bring a morsel of bread, that you may refresh yourselves, and after that you may pass on—since you have come to your servant.” So they said, “Do as you have said.” [6] And Abraham went quickly into the tent to Sarah and said, “Quick! Three seahs of fine flour! Knead it, and make cakes.” [7] And Abraham ran to the herd and took a calf, tender and good, and gave it to a young man, who prepared it quickly. [8] Then he took curds and milk and the calf that he had prepared, and set it before them. And he stood by them under the tree while they ate.

Abraham meets the Lord with two angels. He brings them into his house and Abraham and Sarah together make a lavish feast for them. Abraham was with the Lord for a fellowship meal in the heat of the day. And then the Lord announces the reason for his coming, which brings our first lesson.

I.              Children are a blessing from the Lord by which we should take delight (18:9;12)

Genesis 18:9–12, “[9] They said to him, “Where is Sarah your wife?” And he said, “She is in the tent.” [10] The LORD said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife shall have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent door behind him. [11] Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in years. The way of women had ceased to be with Sarah. [12] So Sarah laughed to herself, saying, “After I am worn out, and my lord is old, shall I have pleasure?”

Abraham has been waiting for this day for 25 years. The promised seed that will bless all the families of the earth will be born this time next year. Children are a blessing from the Lord. We should celebrate and rejoice in the gift of children. Sarah’s hope of a child had long passed for she was old and advanced in years. She laughed to herself, After I am worn out, and my lord is old, shall I have pleasure?” Having a child in your old age is not ideal, but notice what she said, “Shall I have pleasure?”

We will never overcome abortion until God’s people view children as a blessing and delight in them. We must take pleasure in our children and rejoice when they are around. We cannot view children as a burden that keep us from living our lives for that is the seed form of why many women pursue abortion.

II.           Nothing is too hard for the Lord (18:14)

Genesis 18:14–15, “Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.” But Sarah denied it, saying, “I did not laugh,” for she was afraid. He said, “No, but you did laugh.”

Nothing is too hard for the Lord. God can end abortion in our nation. God can give you the strength to adopt or foster. God can give you the resources to carry that child to term and give you a family to care and protect you. Christians of all people should know that nothing is too hard for our God for the Lord Jesus looked at his disciples and said of salvation, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” God brings life from a dead womb to show us he brings life to dead hearts. All of salvation is birth story. Never lose hope in God’s power for nothing is too hard for Him.

III.        We know the Father’s will because we are friends in covenant. (18:16-19)

Genesis 18:16–19, [16] Then the men set out from there, and they looked down toward Sodom. And Abraham went with them to set them on their way. [17] The LORD said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do, [18] seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? [19] For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness and justice, so that the LORD may bring to Abraham what he has promised him.”

Abraham was a liar. He lied because of fear of man. Sarah just lied to God. The Lord did not hide from Abraham but revealed to himself to him. God was in covenant with Abraham. James 2:23, “And the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was a called a friend of God. Abraham was the only individual person to be called a friend of God and if we have the faith of Abraham, Jesus said of his followers, John 15:15, “No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.” Psalm 25:14, “Psalm 25:14, “The friendship of the LORD is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant.”

God has made known the covenant promise to us. We should not hide from him. Jesus calls you friend and he wants you to call him friend so don’t hide from him. Some of you have gone through an abortion and have told no one because of shame and guilt. You have hid it from others, but you are not called to hide from God and from God’s people. We are in covenant relationship with one another. We have true fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus the Son cleanses us from all sin. Be friend of God and God’s people by not hiding but by trusting in his blood that cleanses all our sin.

IV.         You can’t hide sin from God (18:20-21)

Genesis 18:20–21 [20] Then the LORD said, “Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great and their sin is very grave, [21] I will go down to see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry that has come to me. And if not, I will know.”

The Lord will search it out. We cannot hide our sin from God. Stop trying. Confess your sin and he who is faithful and just will forgive your sin and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. The sin of our individuals and our nation will be found out and justly punished.

V.           We must intercede for the wicked (18:22-32)

Genesis 18:22–33 [22] So the men turned from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the LORD. [23] Then Abraham drew near and said, “Will you indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked? [24] Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city. Will you then sweep away the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous who are in it? [25] Far be it from you to do such a thing, to put the righteous to death with the wicked, so that the righteous fare as the wicked! Far be that from you! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?” [26] And the LORD said, “If I find at Sodom fifty righteous in the city, I will spare the whole place for their sake.” [27] Abraham answered and said, “Behold, I have undertaken to speak to the Lord, I who am but dust and ashes. [28] Suppose five of the fifty righteous are lacking. Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five?” And he said, “I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there.” [29] Again he spoke to him and said, “Suppose forty are found there.” He answered, “For the sake of forty I will not do it.” [30] Then he said, “Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak. Suppose thirty are found there.” He answered, “I will not do it, if I find thirty there.” [31] He said, “Behold, I have undertaken to speak to the Lord. Suppose twenty are found there.” He answered, “For the sake of twenty I will not destroy it.” [32] Then he said, “Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak again but this once. Suppose ten are found there.” He answered, “For the sake of ten I will not destroy it.” [33] And the LORD went his way, when he had finished speaking to Abraham, and Abraham returned to his place.

Abraham was interceding for Sodom not to be destroyed. Notice he was not interceding for the wicked but for the righteous. Abraham was asking the city to be spared on account of the righteous. The Lord knew that there was not 10 righteous in the city. We know that there is no one righteous, not even one. The only way the wicked can be saved is if they are called out of the world and made righteous. Abraham was pleading for the city to be saved, but there is no salvation for the wicked in the world. You must be called out of the world to be righteous and that only happens in Christ.

We aim of our prayers is not that our nation would be saved, but that people would be saved out of nation through Christ. America will be destroyed one day. Only the righteous will be saved. Let us intercede for the wicked that God would save people out of the earthly city to be a citizen of the heavenly one. Abraham drew near to God and intercede for the wicked. Our Lord intercedes for us. Let us follow his example

VI.         It is easy to become comfortable in a sinful culture. (Gen 19:1)

Genesis 19:1-3 [1] The two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them and bowed himself with his face to the earth [2] and said, “My lords, please turn aside to your servant’s house and spend the night and wash your feet. Then you may rise up early and go on your way.” They said, “No; we will spend the night in the town square.” [3] But he pressed them strongly; so they turned aside to him and entered his house. And he made them a feast and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.

Lot believed that Sodom was the Garden of the Lord (Genesis 13:10). He settled near Sodom in the valley (Genesis 13:12). And here in Genesis 19:1, he is sitting at the gate implying that Lot was not just living in Sodom but he was an influential man of the city. Beloved, blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in seats of scoffers. Lot is called a righteous man twice in the New Testament, yet he drifted from the Lord walking with the wicked, then standing in with sinners, before he sat with scoffers. We must never become too comfortable in Sodom lest Sodom becomes too comfortable in us.

And even in the midst of this wicked city, Lot opens his home to these men as an act of righteousness. We are complicated followers of Jesus. Our righteousness deeds are often mixed with unrighteousness.

VII.      Sin grows in pervasiveness and perversity and persecution (Gen 19:4-9)

Genesis 19:4, “But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both young and old, all the people to the last man, surrounded the house.

Similarly, to the flood narrative, sin had pervaded the entire city. There were not any righteous men of Sodom. All the people to the last man, came to do Lot’s down to do wickedness. America is heading the direction of Sodom. The pervasive nature of sin is growing day by day, year by year, to surround and thwart righteousness.

Genesis 19:5–8, [5] And they called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them.” [6] Lot went out to the men at the entrance, shut the door after him, [7] and said, “I beg you, my brothers, do not act so wickedly. [8] Behold, I have two daughters who have not known any man. Let me bring them out to you, and do to them as you please. Only do nothing to these men, for they have come under the shelter of my roof.”

In a reversal of Genesis 6, where angels had unnatural relations with women, now men wanted to have unnatural relations with these angels. Sin grows in its perversity. It never stays small. Kill sin or sin will be killing you. Do not underestimate sin. It is crouching at the door and wants your soul. Lot responded by pitting one virtue hospitality against another virtue fatherhood in protecting his daughters. So much of the language of abortion pits too virtues against each other. It talks of the freedom of the mother with the death of a child. God does not want us to make decisions for one virtue in and while violating another.

Genesis 19:9–10 [9] But they said, “Stand back!” And they said, “This fellow came to sojourn, and he has become the judge! Now we will deal worse with you than with them.” Then they pressed hard against the man Lot, and drew near to break the door down.

It does not matter how much you serve the city of man as soon as you stand against them you will be persecuted. The sexual revolution demands total obedience and acceptance. Abortion activists will never be satisfied until they get complete and unhindered authority to kill children until birth. If you speak against them in any way, you will be hated.

VIII.   The Lord provides protection (Gen 19:10)

Genesis 19:10 But the men reached out their hands and brought Lot into the house with them and shut the door.

Do not fear the world’s anger and hate. Trust the Lord in the midst of persecution in whatever form it takes, loss of prestige, respect, jobs, family, friends, for he will protect us. The Lord is our refuge and our strength. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding and he will make your paths straight.

IX.         Sin blinds and exhausts people (Gen 19:11)

Genesis 19:11 And they struck with blindness the men who were at the entrance of the house, both small and great, so that they wore themselves out groping for the door.

God sends judgment on the men of Sodom in striking them with blindness. Young and old, small and great, were blinded by God, yet they did not stop going after sin. They wore themselves groping for the door. Beloved, the god of this age has blinded unbelievers. They believe they are doing right by fighting for a women’s right to choose…to murder. They are wearing themselves out even as they are experiencing the judgment of God as they await more judgment.

X.           The Lord promises destruction (Gen 19:12-13)

Genesis 19:12–13,[12] Then the men said to Lot, “Have you anyone else here? Sons-in-law, sons, daughters, or anyone you have in the city, bring them out of the place. [13] For we are about to destroy this place, because the outcry against its people has become great before the LORD, and the LORD has sent us to destroy it.”

God is being gracious to Lot through Abraham’s prayer offering salvation from the judgment for anyone connected to lot. Notice that the punishment of Sodom is just for their sin has been long and great and the outcry of the people against Sodom has come to the Lord. God hears prayer so keep praying. And if you continue in sin, you will be destroyed.

XI.         The world laughs at the Lord (Gen 19:14)

Genesis 19:14 [14] So Lot went out and said to his sons-in-law, who were to marry his daughters, “Up! Get out of this place, for the LORD is about to destroy the city.” But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be jesting.

Lot righteously obeys immediately by going and finding the men who were to marry his daughters. He warns of the coming judgment, but they cannot take the judgment serious. Our culture, as often with a decadent culture, has lost the ability to take anything serious for life is all about entertainment. Are we so driven for pleasure have we lost the ability to take the judgment of God seriously?

XII.      Our worldliness lingers in sin (Gen 19:15-16)

Genesis 19:15–16 [15] As morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Up! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be swept away in the punishment of the city.” [16] But he lingered.

Lot lingers. He knows judgment is coming but there is a part of him who does not want to leave Sodom. As one friend said, “Do not be surprised how deeply we can become entrenched in Sodom and Sodom can be entrenched in us.” How are you lingering in the sin of Sodom? Are you lingering in any form of sexual immorality? Are you lingering in viewing children as a burden not a blessing? Are you lingering in your pursuit of entertainment and pleasure? Beloved, we all will linger save the grace of God? Ask the Lord, where you are lingering with the culture and the turn back to God.

XIII.   God’s mercy alone saves (Gen 19:16)

[16] But he lingered. So the men seized him and his wife and his two daughters by the hand, the LORD being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city. (ESV)

God seized Lot, his wife and his two daughters, being merciful to him brought him outside the city. God’s mercy here is amazing. We linger with love for the world not wanting to part from it so God has to rescue us. Salvation belongs to the Lord from beginning to end. Let us not be haughty or arrogant, but let us be humble knowing that our salvation is all of grace and mercy.

2 Peter 2:7–10 [7] and if he rescued righteous Lot, greatly distressed by the sensual conduct of the wicked [8] (for as that righteous man lived among them day after day, he was tormenting his righteous soul over their lawless deeds that he saw and heard); [9] then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment, [10] and especially those who indulge in the lust of defiling passion and despise authority.

XIV.    God is patient with us (Gen 19:17-22)

Genesis 19:17–22 [17] And as they brought them out, one said, “Escape for your life. Do not look back or stop anywhere in the valley. Escape to the hills, lest you be swept away.” [18] And Lot said to them, “Oh, no, my lords. [19] Behold, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have shown me great kindness in saving my life. But I cannot escape to the hills, lest the disaster overtake me and I die. [20] Behold, this city is near enough to flee to, and it is a little one. Let me escape there—is it not a little one?—and my life will be saved!” [21] He said to him, “Behold, I grant you this favor also, that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken. [22] Escape there quickly, for I can do nothing till you arrive there.” Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

Zoar joined with Sodom and Gomorrah in war. It was like a little Sodom. God did not want Lot to stop in the valley, but Lot was not ready to fully leave and God was patient with him as he is with us on our journey of obedience.

XV.      Destruction will come to the wicked (Gen 19:23-25)

Genesis 19:23–25 [23] The sun had risen on the earth when Lot came to Zoar. [24] Then the LORD rained on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the LORD out of heaven. [25] And he overthrew those cities, and all the valley, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground.

Those who stand against the Lord will be destroyed. Sodom and Gomorrah are a historical lesson and a preview for the final judgment when the Lord rains sulfur and fire out of heaven on the Last Day. No one can stand against the Lord. If you are not a follower of Jesus, know that the only way to escape the wrath to come is to believe in Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10, says of Christians, “how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, [10] and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.” Jesus will deliver you from the wrath to come if you trust that he died and was raised from the dead for you. Destruction will come. Salvation has been offered. Choose. Judgment or Salvation?

XVI.    Our hearts must leave the world (Gen 19:26)

Genesis 19:26 [26] But Lot’s wife, behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.

Lot’s wife was a woman of Sodom. She physically left, but her heart never did. Jesus warns us to remember Lot’s wife. We should heed his words, Luke 17:28–33

[28] Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot—they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, [29] but on the day when Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all—[30] so will it be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed. [31] On that day, let the one who is on the housetop, with his goods in the house, not come down to take them away, and likewise let the one who is in the field not turn back. [32] Remember Lot’s wife. [33] Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will keep it.

She sought to preserve her life in Sodom and therefore lost it. If she only was willing to lose her life in this world, she would have kept it. Friend, remember Lot’s wife. Too many people choose abortions because they want to preserve their life. They aren’t ready for children. They aren’t ready for the costs. They aren’t ready how it will affect their career. They aren’t ready to share it with their families. Remember Lot’s wife and help others remember. If you seek to preserve your life you will lose it, but whoever loses his life for Christ and the gospel will keep it.

XVII. We must meditate on the end of the wicked (Gen 19:27-29)

Genesis 19:27–29 [27] And Abraham went early in the morning to the place where he had stood before the LORD. [28] And he looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah and toward all the land of the valley, and he looked and, behold, the smoke of the land went up like the smoke of a furnace. [29] So it was that, when God destroyed the cities of the valley, God remembered Abraham and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow when he overthrew the cities in which Lot had lived.

There is smoke in our land. We cannot look away. Abraham went to the same place he pleaded with the Lord and he saw the smoke. We cannot close our eyes to what is happening around us. We also cannot close our eyes to what will happen to those who do not live the worldly city, Spurgeon writes,

“What must Abraham’s meditations have been! What should be the meditations of every godly man as he looks towards Sodom, and sees the smoke of its destruction? It might do some men great good if they would not persistently shut their eyes to the doom of the wicked. Look, look, I pray you, upon that place of darkness and woe where every impenitent and unbelieving spirit must be banished for ever from the presence of the Lord! Look till the tears are in your eyes as you thank God that you are rescued from so terrible a doom! Look till your heart melts with pity for the many who are going the downward road, and who will eternally ruin themselves unless almighty grace prevent![3]

I pray we look and have our hearts stirred to action. God has saved us from eternal ruin by his almighty grace so let us labor to save others. Pray, Speak, Act.

XVIII.              Beware of the slow drift (Gen 19:30)

Genesis 19:30, “Now Lot went up out of Zoar and lived in the hills with his two daughters, for he was afraid to live in Zoar. So he lived in a cave with his two daughters.

Lot is a cautionary tale for us. He is called a righteous man yet he was far from a perfect man. Lot once had tremendous possessions and lived in the blessing of the Lord. At the end of Lot’s life, we see him with nothing living in a cave. His little steps of disobedience lead him slowly away from the Lord. Hebrews 2:1-2, “Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away. For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation?” Let us not drift away. Remember Lot. Remember Lot’s wife. Remember Lot’s daughters.

XIX.    We must root out “Sodom” from our hearts (Gen 19:31-36)

Genesis 19:31–36 [31] And the firstborn said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is not a man on earth to come in to us after the manner of all the earth. [32] Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve offspring from our father.” [33] So they made their father drink wine that night. And the firstborn went in and lay with her father. He did not know when she lay down or when she arose. [34] The next day, the firstborn said to the younger, “Behold, I lay last night with my father. Let us make him drink wine tonight also. Then you go in and lie with him, that we may preserve offspring from our father.” [35] So they made their father drink wine that night also. And the younger arose and lay with him, and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose. [36] Thus both the daughters of Lot became pregnant by their father.

Lot and his daughters left Sodom, but Sodom never really left them. As one scholar notes, “In that cave, Sodom was reborn that night.” We cannot merely change our circumstances or our settings, we must change our heart. Beloved, root out all the “Sodom” in your hearts. God wants us to fully obey him. Do not linger in sin. Do not long for sin. Do not love sin. Kill sin or sin will be killing you.

XX.      God’s mercy never comes to an end (Gen 19:37)

Genesis 19:37–38 [37] The firstborn bore a son and called his name Moab. He is the father of the Moabites to this day. [38] The younger also bore a son and called his name Ben-ammi. He is the father of the Ammonites to this day.

The end of Lot’s life is sad, but it is not without hope. God continues to show his never ceasing mercy. Moab is born which will eventually lead to a Moabitess named Ruth who married Boaz, who fathered Obed, who fathered Jesse who favored King David that would lead to Christ. God will fulfill his promise to Abraham to bless him with a child that bless all the families of the earth.

Salvation is a story of child, an unexpected child born to a teenage girl in Bethlehem. That child would become man and live a perfect life. He would die in the place of all who would turn from their sin and trust in him. After he was dead and buried and placed in a cave or tomb, God raised him from dead. Jesus Christ lived and died and rose again so we could forever experience mercy. All of us here are children Sodom. All of us have lived in pride and pleasure. All of us deserve God’s judgment. And all of us can receive mercy by turning to Christ for forgiveness. The message of the gospel is what the sons and daughters of Sodom need to hear. They need to hear of Christ crucified and raised from the dead. Beloved, God’s mercy never comes to an end.

We have much to learn from Sodom. We have much to learn from Abraham and Lot. We have much to learn from Lot’s wife and daughters. God has taught many lessons throughout history and they all point to Christ. I pray these lessons will stir our hearts to love Christ more deeply, to live more faithfully, to share more boldly, to fight more courageously and to serve more fervently for the glory of the child who was born and the son who was given.
